Paraproteinemia refers to increased amounts of a singly type of monoclonal gammaglobulins in the blood
It indicates an underlying immunoproliferative disorder
Types:
Depending on the type of monoclonal gammaglobulins found in blood, paraproteinemias are of 3 types
Light chain disease (light chain only present)
Heavy chain disease (heavy chain only present)
Full immunoglobulins (light chain : heavy chain ratio may vary)
