  • Shenton line is an imaginary line drawn along the inferomedial border of the femoral neck and the inferior border of the superior pubic ramus.
  • It is named after Edward Warren Hine Shenton, an English radiologist.
  • In a normal X-ray, the line is uninterrupted and smooth.
  • If the Shenton line is interrupted, it can indicate:
    • Fracture neck of femur
    • Congenital dislocation of hip (Developmental dysplasia of hip)
