Blood supply of tonsil

The tonsil is supplied by 5 arteries:

  1. Tonsillar branch of facial artery (main supply)
  2. Ascending palatine branch of facial artery
  3. Ascending pharyngeal branch of external carotid artery
  4. Dorsal linguae branch of lingual artery
  5. Descending palatine branch of maxillary artery
