- Social mobility is an important factor that influences demography
- Based on the extend of change, it is of 2 types
- Horizontal (change in position within the same social class)
- Vertical (change of social class)
- Depending on whether the change take place within the period of an individual’s life time, it can be of 2 types
- Intragenerational – change occurs within an individual’s lifetime
- Intergenerational – change occurs from the parent’s to the children’s generation
