Anterior ciliary arteries

Arteries of eyeball – lateral view

Origin – muscular branches of ophthalmic artery

Course and supply:

  • Reaches the eyeball by passing along with the tendons of the rectus muscles (except lateral rectus)
  • forms a circumcorneal subconjunctival vascular zone
  • pierces the sclera near sclerocorneal junction to end in the greater arterial circle of iris ( ciculus ateriosus major )
