Polyuria in paroxysmal atrial tachycardia – Mechanism
Atrial Natriuretic Peptide – Molecular structure
- Polyuria refers to increased production of urine
- It can occur in paroxysmal atrial tachycardia
Mechanism of development of polyuria in paroxysmal atrial tachycardia:
- There is increased contractile activity of atrium in paroxysmal atrial tachycardia
- This leads to stimulation of atrial mechanoreceptors
- They secrete increased quantities of Atrial natriuretic peptide
- This in turn causes increase in urine production
