- Tanapox is poxvirus (presently unclassified, does not belong to orthopox group)
- It is a zoonotic disease spread to humans through mosquitoes
- It is characterised by fever and 1 or 2 pustular lesions lasting for about 6 weeks
- Small pox vaccine is not protective against tanapox
