Tanapox

  • Tanapox is poxvirus (presently unclassified, does not belong to orthopox group)
  • It is a zoonotic disease spread to humans through mosquitoes
  • It is characterised by fever and 1 or 2 pustular lesions lasting for about 6 weeks
  • Small pox vaccine is not protective against tanapox
